In 2015 we were in Victoria, British Columbia for the Gay Pride Parade on 5 July. Canada was in the grip of terrible forest fires while we were there so you notice that the photos are tinged by the smoke haze.
Victoria, British Columbia
Victoria is the capital of British Columbia in Canada. It’s located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island and has a population of just over 80,000. Victoria is about 100 km or 60 miles from Vancouver.
So as Victoria is on Vancouver Island, getting there is either by plane or ferry. As we were flying in from Australia, we landed at Vancouver airport and transited to a small plane to take us to Victoria.

The Parade
There are a number of events on in Victoria around the Gay Pride Parade. Unfortunately we had limited time on this visit to Victoria, so we only got to experience the parade. Do you want to know more about the parade and the other events being held? Check out the Victoria Pride Society website.
The great thing about the parade was that people were having fun! Being a spectator and having an opportunity to photograph the parade was also a lot of fun.
Of course there is a serious side to the parade with serious messages.
