10 Random Things About Honolulu

I had a week in Honolulu for a conference and thought I would share 10 random things I noticed while there. 1 – Get up early to see a sunrise To get out of Waikiki for a sunrise I decided to take a photography tour with Oahu Photography Tours.  It was a great way to see some amazing scenery around the island and to get some amazing photos.  A special shout out to De-Jay who was my guide on the day. 2 – Waikiki is full of designer shops Waikiki is set up for tourists and for shopping and[...]

The Pau Hana Market – Waikiki’s Food Trucks

I was in Hawaii to present at a conference so I had travelled there by myself.  My usual travel companion, my husband Darren, stayed home to look after our fur children!  So I explored Waikiki by myself. I found the Pau Hana Market by accident as I went for a walk looking for somewhere to eat out in Waikiki.  Pau Hana Market is a permanent set up with up to seven food trucks.  There were seven trucks on the night I ate there and five when I returned two days later for lunch. The market[...]

Trip to Davidson Glacier, Alaska

We arrived in Skagway on board the MS Noordam, a Holland America Line ship as we were sailing the Alaskan Inside Passage.  There were a number of options for excursions in Skagway and we were excited to be able to visit Davidson Glacier. Getting to Davidson Glacier A mini bus collected us from the cruise ship dock.  The dock has minimal facilities but is a short work into Skagway.  The mini bus drove us to the harbour where the smaller boats are moored.  This is where we boarded a motor boat for[...]

Statue of Liberty – A Photo Gallery

The Statue of Liberty is such an iconic landmark, it really does not need any introduction.  We took a ferry to both Liberty Island and Ellis Island to visit. The Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbour. The copper statue was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, a French sculptor and was built by Gustave Eiffel. It was a gift to the United States from the people of France. The statue is of a Libertas, the Roman goddess  who bears a torch and a a tablet.  The date on the tablet is[...]

Visiting Glacier Bay, Alaska

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is a must for anyone’s bucket list.  It is truly stunning.  It is located along the south eastern Alaska coastline.  The inside passage cruises usually spend a day sailing into, around and out of the bay. We sailed into Glacier Bay on a rather rainy and windy morning in July aboard the Holland America Line ship, MS Noordam.  It was a really cold morning so we rugged up with lots of layers. I was also up early to grab a great spot at the bow of the ship where I set up my tri[...]
